Variants

Yaranaio

Yaranaio, short for VIP de Yaranaio (VIP・デ・やらない夫, Vippu de Yaranaio), is an AA character that debut as a side-profile view of Yaruo on July 18, 2006,3) but users complained that he was too tall, so he shortly became a separate side character. That aside, he often gets paired with Yaruo and acts as a great partner, a reliable family member, an enemy, and so on.

Yaruopoona

Opoona (オプーナ, Opūna), or Yaruopoona (やるオプーナ, Yaruopūna), is a Yaruo variant edited to look like a character named Opoona from the 2007 Wii game, Opoona. Due to his history, he's deemed the mascot of 2channel's /ghard/ board where he'll keep trying to “give you the right to buy Opoona” at a wagon with a pile of discounted Opoona games.

The history behind Opoona is that a Koei official expected the game to sell 500,000 copies,4) but it failed and ArtePiazza's Shintarou Majima was blamed for it. It's also believed that the game being released on November 1, 2007, the same day that Super Mario Galaxy was released in Japan, also contributed to poor sales which is why Opoona may declare Mario to be his enemy.

Yaruta

Yaruta (やる太) is a Yaruo variant that debut on 2channel's /aasaloon/ board around March 2007, intending to be a smaller version of Yaruo with a thinner face, clothes, and bent knees, but somehow became its own character. At one point, he was featured at the end of /news4vip/ threads that hit post limit, laughing at how it got there and suggesting that some of the users pretend that posting is their part-time job.
