The **{{ruby|Hādo|Hardware}} {{ruby|Gyōkai|Industry}}** (<wrap narrow>ハード・業界</wrap>) board, or **Geha Board** (ゲハ板, //Geha Ita//), is a [[2channel]] board about the video game industry and their hardware,((In the beginning, the /ghard/ board used to be called 'Game Industry and Hardware' (<wrap narrow>ゲーム業界、ハードウェア</wrap>) before it was shortened and swapped around, becoming 'Hardware and Industry' (<wrap narrow>ハード・業界</wrap>) instead.)) which was made in April 4, 2000. Of course, video games are popular, but it doesn't translate to quality or rational discussions.

Naturally, the [[wp>console war]] also exists on the Japanese internet and these types of communities, obviously, aren't strangers to derogatory insults, so the following contains the 'usual' playbook. Try to be mindful, at the very least, and please don't go around starting fights in another language that you can't actually finish yourself, though it's not like you'd get anything meaningful from using basic [[wp>ad hominem]] attacks.

    * <color #107C10>**Chikan**</color> (痴漢) / <color #107C10>**Chika**</color> (チカ) / <color #107C10>**Chika-kun**</color> (チカ君) - In 2002, [[wp>メッセサンオー|Messe Sanoh]] customers were interviewed on the release of the Xbox with //[[wp>Dead or Alive 3]]//, but one peculiar customer mentioned that he was buying //[[https://vndb.org/v4479|Ryoujoku Chikan Jigoku]]//, an adult visual novel.(([[https://dengekionline.com/data/news/2002/2/22/6a239e96430199683e0a7657692b0baf.html|"【Xbox特報・秋葉原編その1】日米ゲーム機戦争開戦前夜、秋葉原で行列を確認！"]] (February 22, 2002).     * <color #107C10>**Boxer**</color> / <color #107C10>**Xboxer**</color> - These demonyms sound extremely 'lame', but these have since been phased out.
    * <color #107C10>**Three Death**</color> (3デス, //San Desu//) - Remember the Xbox 360's infamous [[wp>Xbox 360 technical problems|Red Ring of Death]]?
  * **__For <color #E60012>Nintendo</color>__**:
    * <color #E60012>**Ninshin**</color> (妊娠) / <color #E60012>**Nishi**</color> (ニシ) / <color #E60012>**Nishi-kun**</color> (ニシ君) - These terms actually started out as 'Nintendo Shinja' (任天堂信者, lit. "Nintendo fanboy"), was shortened to 'ninshin' (任信 / ニンシン), then it would be misconverted into 'ninshin' (妊娠, lit. "pregnancy") which has an 'infantile' nuance to it.
    * <color #E60012>**Ninbuta**</color> (任豚) - A simple alternative, meaning 'Nintendo Pig'.
  * **__For <color #0070D1>Sony</color>__**:
    * <color #0070D1>**Gokiburi**</color> (ゴキブリ) - Historically, Sony employees were nicknamed 'Gatekeeper' or 'GK',((Back in the 2000s, you had Sony employees posting from the 'gatekeeper##.sony.co.jp' [[wp>hostname]].)) so people started posting 'GK detected' (GKの振り, //Jī Kē no furi//), then this became 'GK buri' (GKブリ), so the users might as well start calling them 'gokiburi' (ゴキブリ, lit. "cockroach").
    * <color #0070D1>**Chon**</color> (チョン) / <color #0070D1>**Chony**</color> (チョニー) - [[wp>Anti-Korean sentiment#In_Japanese|Chon]] (チョン) is a slur for Koreans, yet Sony is Japanese.
    * <color #0070D1>**Kusony**</color> (クソニー) - This shouldn't be too hard to figure out, right?
    * <color #0070D1>**Degawa**</color> (出川) - In the 1990s, comedian [[wp>Tetsurō Degawa]] wrote a PS2 shirt, and people thought it made the company 'lame' by extension. No longer in use, obviously.

All that aside, here is everything else that isn't drenched in the console war bullshit, though most of this stuff is somewhat common knowledge for people who did an ounce of research.

  * **Owakon** (オワコン) - Short for 'owatta kontentsu' (終わったコンテンツ, lit. "finished content"). Mostly used for series that are past their prime. However, this, too, is finished content.
  * **Shinja** (信者, lit. "believer" or "devotee") - A basic term for a 'fanatic', may be translated as 'fanboy'.
  * **Shain** (社員, lit. "employee") - The same thing as the previous, but with a promotion.
  * **Sutema** (ステマ) - A [[wp>Guerrilla marketing#Stealth_marketing|stealth marketer]]. In other words, a 'shill'.

===== Notes =====
  * All threads from November 2008 to March 2010 were lost due to [[2010 March 1st Cyberconflict]].
  * The video game series, //Hyperdimension Neptunia//, has a few nods to the board's console wars, along with other memes from 2channel. These references are usually lost in translation, so the localization team had edited most of them out. However, some are left intact, like [[Ranbuta|Ranran]] and the Gehaburn which is one of Nepgear's weapons whose name is clearly inspired by the board.
