Murasaki Moyashi
Summary
The first part is that she wears purple clothes, so she's called 'purple' (紫, murasaki). The second part is that she prefers to stay in the mansion's library and her poor health (e.g. asthma, anemia, vitamin deficiencies) makes it difficult for her to exert energy, drawing comparisons to the 'mung bean sprout' (萌やし, moyashi) as this meant that she was pale, physically fragile, and doesn't require sunlight to grow.
Notes
- The term 'moyashikko' (
萌 やしっ子 , lit. “beansprout child”) roughly means 'weakling'. - At one point, this was also the name for a Mugen-related male–female tag team, where Patchouli was paired with Magaki from The King of Fighters XI, since they're both purple.

1)
Patchouli mentions that she has 'asthma' (喘息, zensoku) when she confronts Reimu on the extra stage of Touhou Koumakyou, plus it's in the “omake.txt” file. It occasionally comes up, but it's easy to gloss over.
2)
Patchouli has a 'vitamin A deficiency', according to her dialogue with Marisa in Touhou Koumakyou, plus it's in the “omake.txt” file. It is vaguely referenced by Yukari in Touhou Suimusou's versus mode.
3)
Patchouli blames 'anemia' (貧血, hinketsu) for her loss to Marisa in Touhou Koumakyou, but it hasn't been mentioned since then. It is entirely possible that 'anemia' was actually a symptom of her 'vitamin A deficiency', which she misdiagnosed as an 'iron deficiency' in the same dialogue. I'll leave the assessment to you.
