Nido

Nido,1) formerly 6-chan (6chan) or Choroy Pride, was a Chilean Spanish bulletin board that, depending on who you ask, had began on August 23, 20072) or December 9, 2011,3) then approximately died when its final owner committed rail suicide on February 26, 2019.

History

2007–2011

The website's first iteration was founded by Gabriel “Takato” Aguilera, who sets up 6chan at “6chan.ippai.cl” using Kusaba on August 23, 2007,4) on top of an anime forum,5) then it became 6-chan at “6-chan.org” on October 26, 2007.6) In 2009, 6-chan collaborates with Cuatrochan,7) moving its adult boards to Cuatrochan on April 4, 2009.8) In 2010, 6-chan began using the Kusaba fork, RokubaPY, on January 8, 2010.

However, Aguilera retires on August 5, 2010,9) transferring ownership to an anonymous user,10) later dubbed "Sebastian Piraña".11) Then on May 7, 2011, the PDI arrests Reinaldo Espejo, a user who had been uploading CSAM under “Anon Chulo”.12)13) 6-chan goes on maintenance around May 14, 2011,14) then it went offline at some point, and months passed before they teased a comeback.15)

2011–2019

The website's second iteration, Choroy Pride, was set up at “choroypride.org” using Kusaba X on December 9, 2011.16) However, much of their early history is lost due to a lack of archives.17) In 2013, the website had bounced to several domains, including “choroychan.org”,18) “6-chan.org”,19) “cejas.org”,20) “6-chan.org” again, “balachan.org”, “choroychan.org” again, then it finally became Nido at “nido.org” by July 2013.

At some point, Nido would come under the ownership of Lamuel Lukas Luis Donoso Moscheni, a stalker and pedophile who used the website as a means to an end. In 2017, the website launched more socials, which included a Telegram channel where users reportedly shared illicit content. Over time, it became widely known that Nido had revenge porn21)22)23) as it considered a premium service.24)25)

Following national media attention, Donoso realized he was being investigated and tried to delete everything, closing Nido in the process, before committing rail suicide at the Grecia metro station in Santiago, using Santiago Metro Line 4, on February 26, 2019 around 9:40pm CLT. All electronic equipment relevant to said investigations were then seized by the CPI's Cybercrime Brigade the next day.26)27)28)

Choroy

A transparent image of the Choroy. The choroy (slender-billed parakeet) was a meme that stems from the IRC bot “weabot”29) mashing up phrases like a talking animal, then a user had drew a choroy who was upset that its owner didn't feed it at 9:30am sharp. It's possible that it was inspired by the robot parrot from Dexter's Laboratory.30)

Notes

  • In the past, 6-chan had a wiki called Kiwidape at kiwi.6-chan.org.
    • An article about Paula does exist at “Anónima Pobre”, listing her full name and PSU scores, and this was long before Nido and her brief relationship with Donoso in 2013.31)32)33)
  • The original Twitter account was '@6_chan', then it moved to '@6_chan_org' on August 10, 2010.34) When it died, the former went to Choroy Pride (Nido), while the latter went to Choroy.org.
  • For some reason, the “py.6-chan.org” front page remained on their servers,35) Aguilera tweets a random 6-chan thread on June 28, 2012,36) then came the 4chan post on August 26, 2012.37)
    • The “Random” (/b/) board had 535k posts in May 2011 and the link would suggest 558k posts in June 2012, implying a low 23k post increment in 1-year span. By comparison, Choroy Pride was a fresh database that had 575k posts in a 1.5-year span, so it probably wasn't serious.
  • At some point, Hispachan founder “Zeta” offered to buy three Hispachan-related domains,38) with an initial offer of $150 per domain, but Donoso simply made the emails public to embarrass them.39) “Zeta” would post a follow-up announcement after Donoso committed suicide.40)
  • Most of the Nido era refugees had ended up migrating over to Bandada or Endchan's /nido/.
