Poko-tan has logged in!

Ah, Poko-tan has logged in!” (あ、ぽこたんインしたお!, A, Poko-tan in shitao!) is a Final Fantasy XI-related kopipe that emerged on March 7, 2004 in a linkshell1) complaint thread.2) It also contributed to the trend of ending sentences with “-o” (~お), seen in Naito Horizon and Yaruo.

My linkshell averages around 20-25 people with a maximum of 84.
And yet, this linkshell still has a nice, helpful atmosphere.
I think the only reason I still play Final Fantasy is because I was blessed with this linkshell.
Thanks to them, I look forward to logging in every day after work, lol.

Me 「What's up? ^^
Tarutaru A 「Ah, Poko-tan has logged in!」3)
Everyone 「Good evening~ ^^」
Elvaan A 「Alright, where are we going today? ^^」
Everyone 「Oh ^^」4)

The artwork shows “Tarutaru A” (たるA, Taru A) with shit on its head, announcing “Poko-tan” logging in, but he's often mistaken for “Poko-tan” himself and everyone knows it as the “Poko-tan AA” (ぽこたんAA).

Moko-tan has logged in!” (もこたんインしたお!, Moko-tan in shitao!)5) is a Touhou Project variant that features Fujiwara no Mokou emerging from the floor hatch.

Mokou 「What's up? ^^
Keine 「Ah, Moko-tan has logged in!」
Everyone 「Good evening~ ^^」
Mokou 「Alright, where are we going today? ^^」
Everyone 「Oh ^^」

Notes

  • This has nothing to do with “Mario has logged in” from Toilet in Wonderland.
1)
“Linkshell” or “LS” is the Final Fantasy XI equivalent of a guild in other games.
2)
"ウチのLSもうダメポ" (March 7, 2004). 2channel /ogame/.
3)
The term, “in shita” (インした), is slang for “in suru” (インする) which just means logging in. The “o” (~お) is superfluous here and doesn't mean anything.
4)
The joke is that “Poko-tan” was someone else, not the poster.
5)
“Moko-tan in shitao!” (もこたんインしたお!) may also be rendered as “Moko-tan IN shitao!” (もこたんINしたお!) and “Moko-tan ni IN shitao!” (もこたんにINしたお!).
