Notes
- Tucao's mascot is a girl with long red hair named “Tucao-niáng” (Tucao娘) or “CC-niáng” (CC娘).
- You have to use Simplified Chinese in order to use the search engine on Tucao.
- The video page will say “Chūhòuhuà” (初后化, lit. “Initializing”), “Danmaku is loading”, then the video will either load or the video player will spit out the “Video is Error” message.
In Serbian, “tucao” is a conjugation of “tucati”, meaning “crush” or “having sex”.

“Tǔcáo” (吐槽, lit. “[to] spit [into someone's] bowl”), derived from “chùchòu” (黜臭), is a Chinese buzzword that means “snark”, “quip”, or “roast”, but often gets likened to the Japanese term “tsukkomi” (突っ込み). Meanwhile, “dànmù” (弹幕, lit. “bullet screen”) just describes the barrage-style commentary that they borrow.
3)
The website owners actually use “T Site” (T站), but the community uses “C Site” (C站) so it fits the pattern.
4)
By Chinese, we're referring to the People's Republic of China or Mainland China. The company's offices are in Shanghai, which is considered a special economic zone (open coastal city).
