Sasuga Brothers

The Sasuga Brothers (流石兄弟, Sasuga Kyōdai) are two AA characters, derived from Fuun, who act as a computer-themed manzai. They first appeared in 2channel's /mona/ board on September 7, 2002.1) In a way, the two can be seen as a precursor to Yaruo and Yaranaio.

During the routine, their usual punchline is “sasuga da yona onera” (流石だよな俺ら), often translated to “as expected of us”, and they're commonly seen with Fujitsu's FMV laptop by default,2) but the 'brand' can easily be changed to whatever the artisan sees fit.

The character on the left is Anija, while the character on the right is Otoja. While they may look similar at first glance, their noses and left eye are different. Every character has '-ja' (～者) in their name, which is a weird Japanese suffix for a 'person', 'profession', or 'role'. Most of their 'relevant' cast members are mentioned below, but the extended family is mentioned later in this article, which isn't very useful.

Anija

Anija (兄者(あにじゃ)) is the boke 'older brother', who tries to collect porn, but runs into 'browser crushers'3) since it was the 2000s4) and never learns. He often uses the phrase “OK, OK” during his side.

Otoja

Otoja (弟者(おとじゃ)) is the tsukkomi 'younger brother', who tends to be the 'rational' one, taking jabs at Anija, yet he still looks up to him. He often delivers the aforementioned “sasuga” punchline.

Aneja

Aneja (姉者(あねじゃ)) is the 'older sister' that might visit, but she's usually a young adult who lives alone. She's much more 'rational' than the two, but often used for erotic gags, and her personality varies.

Imoja

Imoja (妹者(いもじゃ)) is the 'younger sister' that ends her sentences with '-nanoja' (～なのじゃ). She is ordinary and simple-minded, but sharp. Noted for her resemblance to Morala or Jisaku Jien.

Hahaja

Hahaja (母者(ははじゃ)) is the 'mother' who may chastise the brothers, wishing they'd study or find a job. She frequently mistakes the computer for a Famicom. Unusually strong. Married to a salaryman.

Sueja (末者(すえじゃ)) is the family's 'newest' cat who has psychic powers, such as flying, mind control, levitation, telepathy, teleportation, wave-motion gun, etc. Mostly 'weirds' the brothers out.
