Mona

Monā (モナー),1) or Omae Monā (オマエモナー), is an AA character that resembles a weird cat-bear hybrid. He's a well-known icon of 2channel, despite having a history spanning back to Ayashii World and Amezou, that sorta resembled the average user's crab mentality.

The 'Shodai(First) Mona' (初代モナー), or 'Gosenzo(Great Ancestor) Mona' (ご先祖モナー), originally had the catchphrase of “you guys have too much spare time, huh?” (おまえらも暇な奴らだなぁ, omae-ra mo himana yatsurada nā), a saying from the anonymous CB-style chatroom, Reikon Channel, which was meant to break up intense debates. Much of the Ayashii World and 2channel culture is derived from Reikon Channel.

On January 3, 2000, a test thread on 2channel's /kitchen/ board shows how the 'First Mona' evolved into his modern, chunkier, sharp-eared form on February 18, 2000.2) This also shows us that his new catchphrase, “you too, pal” (お前もな, omae mo na), was a response to the original catchphrase. In other words, the ad hominem attack is met with the tu quoque fallacy.
