Hattoushin Mona

Hattoushin(Eight Heads Tall) Monā (八頭身モナー), or Hattoushin (八頭身),¹⁾ is a tall and well-proportioned variant of Mona which emerged in 2channel's /mona/ board on September 25, 2001, mostly to spite the '>>1-san' (>>1さん) who said that the idea of a well-proportioned Mona was repulsive.²⁾

Despite being over two decades old, the character is mainly remembered for their incredibly dynamic poses that one particular variant has been borrowed on Twitter with the Lenny kaomoji.³⁾ In the Western textboards, he is in those common 'teacher and student' threads.

On September 25, 2001, an anonymous user made a thread about how the idea of an 'eight heads tall Mona' would be gross or disgusting, thus summoning the eight heads tall Mona.⁴⁾ At some point, this specific user became '>>1-san', a timid Mona variant with flowing hair, and kicked off a humorous cat-and-mouse game that would be centered around his unrequited relationship with them.

Hattoushin is sometimes romanized as '8toushin', but I don't use this since it'll just reignite the whole '4koma–Yonkoma' issue where people start misreading the number in their language.
If you are translating '>>1-san', you may need to omit the dash in the name as the textboard software usually generates a link that captures every post (>>1-) instead of the first post alone (>>1).
