TAG: Chanosphere
A collection of articles on websites that fall into the category of bulletin boards that feature anonymity in the form of pseudonymity, often in the form of a so-called textboard or imageboard. The phenomenon doesn't really have a name, but “*chan”, “altchan”, “chans”, and “chanverse” are the most common. I'll tentatively call it the “chanosphere” (чаносфера),1) even though I don't really like naming it.2)

The selection of the term, “chanosphere” (чаносфера), was partially inspired by Odinchan, but the term does technically predate the “chanverse” by a few months. In addition, there are several academic papers that use “chanosphere”, plus you can draw your comparisons to blogosphere or manosphere.

In the past, these websites were lumped in with regular bulletin boards under the “bulletin board” tag, since I wanted to be a pedantic troll about it, but decided that it probably deserves its own tag by now.
